Art is messy but, why should your studio be?

It is now 2021! Woohoo!! We hit a milestone with the new year. While I'm happy and hopeful for new beginnings, I still have a lot of cleaning up to do.

At the start of the pandemic, my husband and I frantically moved from our second floor, roomy flat to a bedroom in order to assist my family in their medical and daily needs. Basically speaking, I had a bit more room in our last space that allowed me to paint more freely than what I can now. I'm confined to a small corner in our bedroom at the base of our bed with my drafting table and the rest of what was once our former apartment. Yeah, you can say that the space is not pretty at all.

As an artist, we get a pretty bad rep for our organization skills and sadly, I am 1000% guilty. I'm a strange case though, while my space is mostly engulfed in artily chaos, I cannot function in it and then when it comes to cleaning the mess, I'm completely overwhelmed. I'm ashamed to admit but, without my drafting table to assist in that mess up until recently, I was completely out of commission with my creativity and built up a lot of stress and anxiety.

In tradition with keeping with New Year's resolutions, I have taken upon myself to become more organized — at least with my craft (perhaps this sense of order will help with getting the rest of my life in line, lol). I've already got some corner shelves, new blinds and intend on finding a spot where I can safely put paintings until they find a new home!

I'm happy to say that I also plan on sharing my space with you after I have officially made this my sacred corner of the room. Once I get more on my list to assist with organizational needs, I will post them on my blog so stay posted! Also, feel free to tag me in your studio re-organization projects! We got this!

With every ending is a new beginning. Whether it was a good ending or a bad ending, it must render a clean slate. This year, let us leave behind our pain, baggage and doubts and walk forward, resilient and ready to receive blessings!

Happy New Year!
