“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.” —Edward Harper
Hello humans!
I experienced my first art show where one of my pieces were displayed. this was such and exciting and nerve wracking experience as many came and viewed such amazing work!
A bit about the show
The art show was called Art with Heart & Hope by Beyond my Battle. The show celebrates artists and creators with disabilities, illnesses and caretakers of those with disabilities or illness. I was honored to attend with my mother, who is a cancer survivor, my husband and younger brother.
About the painting🖼
As mentioned in previous posts, this piece is one of 4, so far and it is called Bajo la Luna.
I‘ve been asked what it all means. 😮💨
Well, to start off, I usually don’t like to tell others Of what it means to me because others may resonate with the art in their own way and I always pray that it does bring Blessing and joy or sparks their own creativity.
Now, these pieces carry so much within them every stroke is a prayer, a thought, a cry, a praise but most importantly healing.
I started this at a time where I was vulnerable, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I was tired and couldn’t feel the Lord‘s presence to the point I denied it.
Through the healing process He was there. His light is always there even if I don’t feel it and that’s where the moon shines through and washes us in His truth. This goes for our health/sickness, our anger and doubt and even in our times of praises 🙌🏽. His light shines and there is nowhere we can hide. I also realized that through our talents that He has bestowed upon us, we can bring healing to ourselves and others.
What was it like?
I won’t lie, I was so nervous talking to anyone. The show was located in a rich city and I felt out of place. I would pace around hoping someone would talk to me but then too nervous to start up any conversations early in the show. My mother on the other hand was lively and recorded the show. She talked to any and everyone excited to express her pride in her children.
Even though the area was set in a wealthier city there were still those that I had the opportunity to speak with that came from diverse walks of life. I was honored to hear their stories and see their art beautifully reflect it.
As the show was obviously set during the pandemic, we couldn't have food and drinks normally so, on our way out they offered beverages and some snacks! I don't usually drink alcohol so I opted for a sparkling drink and it was so good.
Overall, we maintained distances as much as possible while still mingling and everyone had to be vaccinated.
Would I do it again?
Absolutely! If the opportunity strikes, I'd be there in a heartbeat. There were many people there that flocked and kept surrounding my painting which was exciting to view from the other side and even see people just talk about it. It didn't sell that night but seeing the people enjoy it for the night was so satisfying.
What are your experiences?
I'd like to know if you had the opportunity to have art featured in any shows or if you are preparing to host your own showing? What are some things you do to get ready? What about likes and dislikes?
This painting will be available to purchase through my Etsy shop.
I know it's been a long time since I've posted anything but I've been overwhelmed. I hope you can understand. Thank you for reading
